Sager Electronics at EDS Leadership Summit 2025
At the EDS Leadership Summit 2025, Paige West, Managing Editor at Procurement Pro, speaks to Maryellen Stack, Director of Communications at Sager Electronics about how the 138 year old company has differentiated itself throughout the years.
Stack talks about how Sager Electronics, a North American distributor with a strong legacy in electronic component distribution, continues to focus on what it does best – providing dedicated support to its customer base without trying to be “everything to everyone.” Its commitment to integrity and customer service is underpinned by strong technical capabilities and the scale afforded by being part of the TTI family.
During the conversation, West invites Stack to explore how Sager differentiates itself from larger global distributors, particularly through its power programme. Stack explains that what began as a niche offering has grown into a specialised focus that includes thermal management, custom battery systems, and modular power solutions. She also highlights that Sager has developed these capabilities “both organically as well as through acquisition,” supporting a shift from standard parts to more tailored solutions.
Looking at market behaviour, Stack explained that following a period of excess inventory, Sager saw a positive start to 2025, with bookings and sales exceeding expectations in Q1. While April brought some softening, Stack remains hopeful: “Innovation really is going to win out in the end.”
Key verticals remain steady, with industrial and medical applications leading activity – particularly in portable devices and diagnostics – while robotics and data centres are gaining traction, driven by AI infrastructure demands.
Customer concerns have shifted, but not disappeared. Although price and lead times are returning to focus, ongoing tariff uncertainties are still influencing buying decisions and sourcing strategies. Open dialogue, says Stack, is helping customers navigate the unknowns.
Looking ahead, Sager expects design activity to continue building. With a broad technical skill set and the flexibility to offer both standard and custom solutions, the company is positioning itself to support customers across sectors, no matter the economic climate.
