SAMWHA YK polymer hybrid series available from Rutronik
New to the Rutronik portfolio is the YK polymer hybrid aluminium electrolytic capacitor series from SAMWHA.
The newly introduced capacitors, known as the ‘High Temperature Series’, are installed in SMD chip housings and combine high electronic performance with robustness. The high conductivity of the polymer ensures low losses, while the liquid electrolyte ensures self-healing of the dielectric and stable capacitance. The capacitors offer better frequency response compared to classic liquid electrolytic capacitors and score particularly well with their high temperature resistance. They are AEC-Q200 qualified and ideal for use in automotive electronics, telecommunications & 5G infrastructure, energy, and power electronics.
The YK series relies on hybrid technology that combines conductive polymer and liquid electrolyte in the capacitor. This combines the advantages of both technologies for very low ESR and high ripple current resistance without excessive heating.
With an extended operating temperature range from -55°C to +135°C, the YK series achieves comparable capacitance values of approx. 33µF to 470µF, depending on the rated voltage and size. For example, the YK capacitors offer up to 330µF @ 35V in a 10mm x 10mm SMD package, while the previous YH model only delivered 150µF @ 35V with a similar size. Depending on the model, the rated voltage of the capacitors is typically between 25V and 63V DC.
