Mascot unveils MCU-based battery charger
Power design specialist Mascot’s latest innovation is the Model 4340, a next-generation, high-performance battery charger designed for Lead Acid, Li-Ion, LiFePO4, and NiMH batteries.
Engineered for maximum performance and reliability, the 4340 employs a microcontroller-managed three-stage charging profile, optimising battery life and runtime.
It also features smart wake-up capabilities for deeply discharged batteries and soft-start charging, delivering low current until normal voltage levels are restored – critical for preserving battery health.
Ideal for demanding sectors such as medical technology, telecom, energy storage, and E-Mobility, the 4340 ensures fast, safe, and efficient charging.
With certifications including EN 60601-1 ed. 3.2, EN 60601-1-11 (Home Healthcare), and UL approval, it meets the highest standards for medical and professional-grade use.
The charger is fully customisable via Mascot’s Configurable Battery Charger (CBC) toolkit, allowing users to easily set charge parameters through a PC interface.
Configuration can also be done in the field.
A range of custom options – including connectors, cords, IP-rated enclosures, open frame formats, branding, and additional certifications—is available upon request. The 4340's advanced three-stage process restores full battery voltage, provides saturation charging to maximise capacity, and automatically stops when the battery is fully charged – ensuring peak performance and extended runtime. A three-colour LED indicator offers intuitive feedback for charging, error, and standby status. An optional wall-mount bracket enhances installation flexibility.
With its combination of versatility, reliability, intelligent charging, and certifications to the most stringent safety & EMC norms, the 4340 sets a new standard for professional battery charging.
Key technical specifications of the 4340 include a maximum output power of 80 W, and AC input voltage of 90-264VAC
